Advanced 10-Hour CPD Programme

Develop the knowledge, confidence and clinical decision-making skills required to diagnose, assess and manage adult asthma in line with the latest evidence-based guidance.

This advanced 6-week blended learning programme combines interactive e-learning, videos, case studies and live webinars to help healthcare professionals apply learning directly to clinical practice.

On successful completion of all programme elements, delegates will receive a Certificate of Completion for 10 hours of CPD.

Please note: This is an advanced module and is intended for clinicians who already have a basic understanding of asthma diagnosis and management.

If you are new to asthma, we recommend completing our Introduction to Asthma webinar before progressing to this programme. A dedicated Foundations in Asthma programme is also in development to provide a structured learning pathway for clinicians new to respiratory care.

Each unit follows the same structure:

• Self-paced e-learning (approximately 2 hours to complete over 2 weeks before the love webinar)

• Live interactive webinar (1 hour) Case-based discussion and application of learning

• Opportunity to ask questions throughout

Learning Outcomes

 

This programme focuses on developing clinical decision-making skills through the application of current evidence and guideline-based care to realistic primary care scenarios.

 

On successful completion of this programme, learners will be able to:

​

• Apply the latest evidence-based asthma guidance to support safe, effective clinical decision-making.

​

• Undertake a comprehensive clinical assessment, interpret objective test results and make a robust diagnosis of asthma.

​

• Differentiate asthma from other causes of respiratory symptoms and recognise when further investigation or specialist referral is required.

​

• Optimise pharmacological management by selecting and tailoring treatment, including appropriate inhaler devices, to meet individual patient needs.

​

• Apply current treatment strategies, including AIR and MART, in line with national guidance.

​

• Identify patients at increased risk of exacerbations or poor outcomes and implement strategies to reduce future risk.

​

• Deliver structured, evidence-based asthma reviews that optimise symptom control, treatment adherence and long-term outcomes.

​

• Develop personalised supported self-management plans that empower patients, improve asthma control and reduce exacerbations and hospital admissions.

This programme is currently supported by the pharmaceutical industry, enabling places to be offered at a reduced cost.

As part of this support, one pharmaceutical company will deliver a 10-minute presentation at the beginning of each live webinar. The educational content of the programme remains independent and evidence-based.

Cancellation Policy

Places on this programme are limited and many are offered at a reduced cost through pharmaceutical sponsorship. If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so that your place may be offered to another delegate where feasible. Due to the impact on programme planning and sponsorship, late cancellations and failure to attend will be charged at the full course fee.
