I thought I’d share a little update on all things LR Respiratory — including upcoming national webinars, new Training Hub partnerships, the launch of my new Fundamentals in Asthma & COPD Programme, and some exciting new learning resources coming soon.
📚 National Virtual Training Programme
My national programme provides practical, evidence-based respiratory education for healthcare professionals working in primary care and other clinical settings.

These sessions are designed to be interactive and clinically focused, with opportunities to ask questions and discuss how the learning can be applied in practice.
🌟 New: Fundamentals in Asthma & COPD Programme
Over the past few years, many healthcare professionals have attended my 2-hour introductory respiratory webinars and then progressed onto the 7-week advanced courses. Although these courses have received excellent feedback, they were originally developed to enhance the knowledge and skills of those who already had a foundation in respiratory care. I recognised that some of the content was quite complex and not always immediately relevant to those who were still developing their respiratory knowledge and experience. I wanted to address this by providing a clearer progression through respiratory education, from building the fundamentals through to developing more advanced clinical assessment and management skills.
I’m therefore particularly excited to be launching my new 8-week Fundamentals in Asthma & COPD Programme, developed following the successful delivery of the respiratory component of the General Practice Nursing Foundation Programme with Greater Manchester Training Hub. The programme is specifically aimed at healthcare professionals who are new to respiratory care or new to primary care, providing a structured introduction to asthma and COPD through a combination of live, interactive teaching and self-directed learning.
The programme covers:
Weeks 1–4: Asthma 🫁Weeks 5–8: COPD 🌬️
Each week includes:
💻 2-hour live interactive webinar
📖 1 hour of e-learning
🔄 Eight weeks of structured learning
⏱️ 24 hours total learning time
The programme is particularly suitable for new practice nurses and nursing associates, as well as other healthcare professionals developing their respiratory knowledge and preparing to undertake asthma and COPD reviews.
The programme is available for commissioners, Training Hubs and other organisations looking to provide structured respiratory education for their teams.

For those who are already more experienced in respiratory care and are looking for something more in-depth, covering more complex topics, I also offer 6-week Advanced Asthma and COPD Programmes. These build on existing knowledge and focus in greater detail on clinical assessment, diagnosis, interpretation of investigations and individualised management.

These modules are designed to take knowledge beyond the fundamentals, with a greater focus on clinical assessment, diagnosis, interpretation of investigations and individualised management.
🫁 Advanced Asthma
The 6-week Advanced Asthma Programme develops the knowledge, confidence and clinical decision-making skills required to assess, diagnose and manage adult asthma in line with current evidence-based guidance.
The programme explores:
Clinical assessment and differential diagnosis
Objective testing and interpretation
Applying current diagnostic criteria in clinical practice
Assessing asthma control and future risk
Individualised treatment and stepwise management
Managing more complex presentations and knowing when to refer
Structured asthma reviews and personalised management

🌬️ Advanced COPD
The 6-week Advanced COPD Programme develops the knowledge, confidence and clinical decision-making skills required to assess, diagnose and manage adults with COPD in primary care.
The programme explores:
Clinical assessment and differential diagnosis
Interpreting spirometry and other investigations
Confirming and assessing COPD
Assessing symptoms, exacerbation risk and disease impact
Individualising pharmacological and non-pharmacological management
Recognising more complex COPD and when to refer
Structured COPD reviews and supporting self-management

Both modules combine self-directed e-learning with live interactive webinars, using clinical cases and practical application to help healthcare professionals translate the learning directly into their clinical practice.
💻 Practice-Based Virtual Education
If your practice would benefit from respiratory training tailored specifically to your team, I can provide bespoke virtual education based on your local needs.
This could include asthma, COPD, spirometry, inhaler technique, respiratory reviews, diagnosis, prescribing or other areas of respiratory care.
Funding is often available where 10 or more healthcare professionals are attending, making practice or PCN-based sessions a cost-effective way to provide education to the wider team.

My programmes are designed as clinical education rather than academic pathways. For those working towards a Master's degree or another academic qualification, I can recommend appropriate academic pathways and resources.

Following the feedback I’ve received from healthcare professionals, I’m also developing a range of pre-recorded respiratory education.
The aim is to make high-quality respiratory education more accessible and flexible for those working in busy clinical environments.
